The historical development of Mumbai is fantastically displayed due to its history that commenced with a group of seven islands and the building of one of the prime cities in India. Initially, the British East India Company took over the control and so Mumbai, then called Bombay, was ramped up as a trading center with high emphasis on a ports. In the centuries, it came to be an important city and industry center in the British colonial empire and the Indian independence movement, respectively. Nowadays, it is the financial capital and heart of India’s entertainment industry, a movie house – Bollywood. The most significant characteristic of Mumbai to remember is the considerable expansions and reconstructions it has made to its architecture which can be seen, specifically, in South Mumbai where Victorian Gothic governs many buildings and this is now an essential part of Mumbai’s history that goes along so well with such colonial-Bazaar districts like Crawford Market. In Mumbai, the modern development that has happened has been it was done while incorporating both the historical value of the place and the new developments.

Hence, Mumbai is the social, economic and cultural hub of cosmopolitanism, actually, to this day, it is considered the largest cultural hub of the world. In the city that has a multicultural community where people of different religion, culture and economic background live. Foods, festivals, and arts are the city’s different angles that bring out the specifics of a city in a very clear way. Mumbai is equally accommodating when it comes to food such as vada pav, and pav bhaji that are vended in the streets and sipping tender coconut in 5-star hotels. Mumbai is also the cultural capital of India with its many theatres, picture theatres and galleries of art, to mention a few like Chhatrapati Shivaji Vastu Sangrahalaya which is a museum of the history of Maharashtra and ancient Indian costumes and the Jehangir Art gallery. Therefore, the movie industry (of the city) adding these make the culture of the place look more like the second largest in the world, the thousands of films it will release, Bollywood.

The thing is, the population density of Mumbai is relatively high, however, there are still a handful of parks and some coastal land where people can enjoy some leisure and have fun. Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Aarey Milk Colony are located within the city which means it has large areas to roam around, the presence of animals and humans, and other various trekking roads.
